GUIDE / EDITOR IMPORT

Upload a model in the editor

Use the editor importer when you want to prepare a Fragment model before runtime. The Fragments Viewer opens inside Unreal Editor, imports a .frag file, and lets you inspect the generated model before saving its placement.

Editor workflow

Open the Fragments Viewer

  1. Confirm that FragmentsUnreal is enabled in Edit → Plugins, then restart Unreal Editor if it was just enabled.
  2. Open Window → Fragments Viewer. The dockable tab opens with the FragmentsUnreal panel.
Open Window → Fragments Viewer.

Choose the model and origin

  1. Use the Fragment File field or browse button to select your .frag file.
  2. Choose Use World Origin to place the model at the level origin, or Use Base Coordinates to preserve its source transform.
Select a .frag file and choose the origin mode.

Import and process

  1. Click Load Fragment. Unreal shows an Importing fragment... progress dialog while the model is processed.
  2. When processing finishes, the model appears in the level and is added to Cached Fragments.
The Load Fragment action processes the model in the editor.

Inspect and save the result

  1. Select the cached model to inspect its Name, GUID, Alias, material overrides, visibility controls, and placement actions.
  2. Use Save Placement to write the actor transform, then save the level after the generated actors and materials appear.
Review details, material overrides, visibility, and placement.
